Overview
The IEA Experts Group on R&D Priority-Setting and Evaluation (EGRD) is hosting a workshop titled "Technologies and Innovations for the Climate-Neutral City" on May 12-13, 2025, in Vienna, Austria. This event is organized in collaboration with the Austrian Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation, and Technology.
Workshop Focus
Cities are pivotal in addressing the climate crisis, contributing to approximately 75% of global CO₂ emissions and 78% of energy consumption. As urban populations grow and climate-related challenges intensify, innovative strategies are essential for achieving climate neutrality. This workshop will explore technologies and system innovations that promote the development of sustainable urban environments, resilient neighborhoods, and energy-efficient buildings. Participants will engage in discussions about research priorities, policy instruments, and best practices that facilitate this transformation.

The workshop will be held in a hybrid format, allowing both in-person and online participation.
