Cut through the green tape

We don't push agendas. At Net Zero Compare, we cut through the hype and fear to deliver the straightforward facts you need for making informed decisions on green products and services. Whether motivated by compliance, customer demands, or a real passion for the environment, you’re welcome here. We provide reliable information—why you seek it is not our concern.

Global packaging supplier Elopak (OSL: ELO) has launched a new paperboard for fresh liquids in chilled distribution chains, aiming to cut the carbon footprint of beverage cartons by up to 14%. The Natural White Board, developed in partnership with long-term collaborator Stora Enso, is set to be rolled out across Elopak’s range of Pure-Pak® cartons worldwide.

Designed as a more sustainable alternative to standard white board, the Natural White Board maintains the same protective qualities while reducing plastic (polyethylene) usage and eliminating clay coating. “Drawing upon decades of innovation, the Pure-Pak® carton remains iconic in fiber-based packaging. With the introduction of the Natural White Board, customers can further improve their carbon footprint significantly,” said Uwe Schulze, Executive Vice President Product and Development at Elopak.

The board features bleached fibers only in the top layer, preserving a clean white finish while using fewer resources. “This latest innovation empowers our customers to choose a more sustainable packaging solution while still benefitting from traditional white paperboard that offers greater design flexibility,” Schulze added.

Following the success of Elopak’s Natural Brown Board, first introduced in 2017, this white version was developed to meet market demand for sustainable cartons with a lighter look. “We are proud of this innovation,” said Michael Olsson, Technical Account Manager at Stora Enso. “It gives companies and consumers more options.”

Norwegian organic dairy Rørosmeieriet was the first to trial the new board. “This latest innovation allows us to pass on even greater sustainability benefits to our customers,” said CEO Trond Vilhelm Lund. Coop Norway's Roy Olderskog added, “It’s ideal for our Änglamark brand.”
