The maritime industry is responsible for transporting approximately 80% of global goods and contributes nearly 3% of global greenhouse gas emissions. As the world increasingly prioritizes emission reductions, shipbuilding is undergoing significant changes. This event will feature the launch of the OECD's new report titled The role of shipbuilding in maritime decarbonisation: Impact of technology developments and policy measures. Participants will gain insights into the latest technological advancements in maritime decarbonisation and digitalisation, explore how these changes are reshaping the shipbuilding industry's resilience and competitiveness, and discuss emerging policy frameworks that influence maritime decarbonisation.

The agenda includes opening remarks from H.E. Halvor Hvideberg, Ambassador of Norway to the OECD, followed by a presentation of the report by Laurent Daniel, Head of the OECD Shipbuilding Unit, and Emilie Berger, Junior Policy Analyst. A panel discussion will feature experts such as Laurence Cret from the International Energy Agency and Olaf Merk from the International Transport Forum, concluding with a Q&A session for participants.
