Overview

The workshop examines the relationship between top-down circular economy policies and bottom-up initiatives. South Tyrol’s provincial circular economy strategy identifies construction and materials management as important areas for reducing emissions and improving resource efficiency, while local associations, cooperatives, social enterprises and citizens contribute through activities such as reuse, repair and sharing. The event draws on findings from the ECLECTIC, PROSUST and SUSMAT research projects. The programme covers areas including:

  • Circular economy strategy in South Tyrol

  • Circular construction and materials management

  • Recycling of construction waste

  • Urban metabolism, materials and buildings

  • Reuse, repair and other community-led initiatives

  • Collaboration between businesses and the third sector

  • Digital tools for sustainable and circular construction

Alongside presentations and Q&A sessions, the programme includes a Circularity Exhibition and parallel interactive sessions. Participants will discuss opportunities for stronger collaboration between industry, the third sector and citizens in developing a more integrated approach to circularity.

Attendance

The workshop runs from 08:30 to 13:45 and will be held in Italian and German, with simultaneous interpretation. It brings together policymakers, researchers, businesses and civil-society participants. Registration is open through 25 September 2026 via the official Eurac Research event page.
