Explore the Future of Sustainable Shipping and Ports
The 2nd Binational Forum on Sustainable Maritime Transport & Ports in the Three Californias is set to take place at Hotel Lucerna in Ensenada, Baja California, from June 26-27, 2025. Following a successful inaugural event in La Paz, this forum will gather key stakeholders from the Baja California Peninsula, California, and international experts to discuss sustainable maritime practices.
The forum's primary objective is to catalyze the development of a green marine corridor that supports net-zero shipping operations. With shipping accounting for nearly 90% of global trade, the need for sustainable practices is more pressing than ever, especially as greenhouse gas emissions from the sector are projected to rise significantly if left unaddressed.
Participants will engage in roundtables and deep-dive discussions focusing on:
Knowledge sharing on sustainable practices.
Cross-sectoral dialogue on policy, technology, and private sector commitments.
Insights into Mexico's Champions for Sustainable Shipping and Ports initiative.
The thematic sessions will cover critical components of the maritime industry's transition to net-zero, addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by supply chain shifts and the potential of e-fuels and renewable energy. This forum represents a significant step towards enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of maritime transport in the region.
