Core Features
ECHO DPP combines product-data management, system integration and publishing capabilities, allowing manufacturers to start with relatively simple data sources and expand toward larger automated deployments.
Product Data Management: Manufacturers can flexibly model and maintain the information required for their product passports. The no-code approach allows data models and content to be managed without software development.
Data Quality and Approval: The platform includes controls for checking data quality and managing approval processes before information is made available through a passport. Roles, permissions and audit functionality provide additional control over who can access or modify information.
QR-Code Product Passports: Completed passports can be linked directly to physical products through QR codes, giving users access to the relevant product information. ECHO also supports identifiers including IEC 61406 and interoperability through GS1 Digital Link.
ERP, PIM and API Integration: ECHO DPP follows an API-first approach and can connect ERP, PIM and other existing systems. ECHO also supports information from PDF, Excel and CSV files as well as live sources such as sensors, BMS and IoT systems.
DPP Compliance Infrastructure: ECHO addresses technical requirements including JSON-LD, content negotiation, data integrity, access controls, long-term archiving and DPP registry/identifier requirements.
Closing Insights
ECHO DPP has evolved from ECHO PRM's broader Smart Product Passport technology, which the company began developing in 2021. This background means the platform is intended to go beyond regulatory disclosure: manufacturers can also provide digital manuals and safety information, service and maintenance support, quality documentation, recycling and take-back information through the product-facing environment.
The EU Battery Passport is a prominent implementation area. ECHO combines the software with training and consulting to help manufacturers identify applicable requirements, organize their data and systems, and ultimately publish the passport on the product. ECHO is also active in the wider DPP ecosystem. Co-founder Michael Trunzer participates in DPP working groups including VDMA, VDA, CIRPASS2 and BatteryPass. In 2026, ECHO PRM also entered a strategic partnership with Quanos for Digital Product Passport implementation, combining Quanos’ product-data infrastructure with ECHO’s DPP technology.
