United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment and Health (UNU-INWEH)

The United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment and Health, known as UNU-INWEH, is a research and policy institute within the United Nations University system. It focuses on global challenges at the intersection of water security, environmental sustainability and public health. Often described as the UN’s “Think Tank on Water”, UNU-INWEH conducts research, supports capacity development, informs policy and works with governments, UN agencies and partners, with particular attention to low- and middle-income countries. Its work covers issues such as water scarcity, climate impacts, ecosystem health, wastewater, water-related disasters and sustainable development.
