The Copper Mark

Founded in 2019, Copper Mark is a not-for-profit organisation that operates an independent assurance framework for responsible practices across the copper, molybdenum, nickel, and zinc value chains. It assesses sites such as mines, smelters, refineries, and fabricators through third-party assurance against ESG and responsible production criteria. The organisation was initiated by the International Copper Association but is structured as an independent entity, with governance through a Board of Directors and a multi-stakeholder Advisory Council. Its role is to help producers demonstrate responsible production practices and give downstream users, investors, and customers clearer information about metals sourcing.
