Škoda Auto a.s. is a Czech automotive manufacturer whose history began with Laurin & Klement in 1895. It became part of the Volkswagen Group in 1991 and develops and manufactures vehicles with electric, plug-in hybrid and combustion powertrains. Its headquarters and main production plant are in Mladá Boleslav. Škoda is relevant to the article because its original components are among those recovered through the Zwickau dismantling operation.
