envelio GmbH

envelio is a Cologne-based energy software company founded in 2017 as a spin-off from RWTH Aachen University. Its founders developed the business from research into intelligent distribution grids, responding to the growing challenge of integrating renewable generation, EV charging, storage, and other distributed energy resources. Envelio develops the Intelligent Grid Platform (IGP) for distribution system operators, providing a digital grid twin for grid data management, connection processes, planning, and operations. E.ON acquired a majority stake in envelio in 2021.
