Breakthrough Energy Ventures is the venture investment arm associated with Breakthrough Energy, the climate and energy innovation platform founded by Bill Gates. The organization finances companies developing technologies capable of making significant contributions to emissions reduction across electricity, manufacturing, transport, buildings and agriculture. Its portfolio includes technologies ranging from advanced energy storage and geothermal power to low-carbon materials, carbon removal and alternative fuels. Breakthrough Energy Ventures was an early investor in Form Energy and has continued participating in successive financing rounds as the company's iron-air storage technology has moved from research and development towards mass manufacturing and commercial deployment.
