The Solar Training - PV Systems - Tools and Techniques for Operations and Maintenance Lab Week (Grid-Direct) is a comprehensive workshop designed for experienced solar professionals. This five-day course will provide participants with 40 contact hours of intensive training, focusing on the practical application of various analytical tools essential for the operation and maintenance of photovoltaic (PV) systems.

Learning Objectives

Participants will gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art tools such as the IV Curve Tracer, Insulation Resistance Tester, Thermal Camera, Multimeter, and Clamp-On Meter. The curriculum emphasizes performance evaluation, troubleshooting techniques, and the theory behind these tools. By the end of the workshop, attendees will be able to:

  • Analyze results from various test tools used during commissioning and maintenance.

  • Define the procedures behind insulation resistance testing and IV curve tracing.

  • Demonstrate the proper use of PV test tools.

  • Evaluate the performance of working systems using field procedures.

  • Troubleshoot common PV array and system faults effectively.

Prerequisites

To enroll in this workshop, participants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Completion of SEI’s PV101/PVOL101, PV202/PVOL202, and PV201LI or equivalent trainings.

  • NABCEP PV Board Certification.

  • Sufficient professional experience in the solar industry, validated by passing a placement test.
