Event Overview
The seminar titled The Limits to Derisked Decarbonisation: State Capacity Unevenness in Domestic Green Transition Strategies will take place on March 12, 2025, at the Dyson Perrins Building in Oxford. Organized by Andrey Levitskiy from the University of Oxford, this event is part of the NatureFinance@Oxford Seminar Series.
The discussion will focus on how the global political economy influences national bureaucracies and their capacity to implement green transition strategies. Using Chile as a case study, the seminar will analyze the efforts of government agencies in three key policy areas: green hydrogen, native forestry, and mining. The findings challenge existing theories by suggesting that alignment with domestic growth constraints and access to financing for de-risking infrastructure investments are more critical than previously thought.
The seminar will feature Rosie Collington from Copenhagen Business School as the speaker. Participants are encouraged to register in advance, as booking is required to attend this insightful discussion on the complexities of achieving carbon neutrality amidst varying state capacities.
