The Birmingham Decarbonisation Summer School 2025 (BDSS) will take place from June 16 to June 19, 2025, at the School of Engineering, University of Birmingham. This year's theme, "Accelerating Energy Transition towards Net Zero," aims to foster collaboration between early career researchers and engineers from academia and industry.
Event Structure
Participants will engage in a series of workshops and group activities designed to tackle a real-world energy transition challenge proposed by SSEN Transmission, the lead industrial partner. The first two days will focus on technical presentations and soft skills training, while the third day will culminate in a pitch competition judged by industry experts. The final day will feature a conference discussing the role of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) technology in achieving net-zero goals.
Benefits of Participation
Attendees will gain valuable insights into the challenges of energy transition, network with leading experts, and enhance their interdisciplinary research capabilities. The event is open to postgraduate students and early career professionals working in net-zero related fields in the UK.
