Virtual Home Label was developed to overcome one of the principal barriers to residential decarbonization: the cost and limited scalability of traditional home energy audits. The platform has already been deployed through collaborations with the City of Saskatoon and the City of Toronto. In Saskatoon, OPEN modelled the estimated energy consumption and carbon emissions of approximately 70,000 ground-oriented homes, powering the city's interactive Home Energy Map. Toronto is also working with OPEN to provide homeowners with personalized insights into their homes' energy and emissions performance.
