The EU ETS Quickscan tool is available as an Excel-based calculator, combining the underlying regulatory calculations with adjustable vessel and fuel assumptions.
EU ETS Cost Calculation: Users can calculate annual EU ETS costs for individual vessels or fleets, translating emissions covered by the regulation into the number and cost of EU Allowances (EUAs) required.
Fuel and Emissions Calculations: The workbook includes regulatory tables, fuel parameters, emission factors and greenhouse-gas calculations. From 2026, EU ETS maritime coverage includes CO₂, methane (CH₄) and nitrous oxide (N₂O), which is particularly relevant to fuels such as LNG where methane slip can affect the result.
Voyage Coverage: Calculations reflect the geographical scope of EU ETS Maritime. 100% of emissions are covered for voyages between EU/EEA ports and emissions at berth, while 50% are covered for voyages between an EU/EEA and non-EU/EEA port.

Maritime transport entered the EU ETS in 2024, with the obligation phased in at 40% of covered emissions for 2024, 70% for 2025 and 100% from 2026 onwards.
