Core Features
Polygon One takes an end-to-end approach to regulatory compliance, moving information between suppliers and internal teams within a shared platform. Core features include:
Supply-Chain Traceability: Maps EUDR supply chains to individual production plots, capturing coordinates or polygons and connecting them with suppliers, commodities and shipments.
Deforestation Screening: Uses satellite analysis to check production plots against the EUDR's December 31, 2020 deforestation cut-off date.
AI Document Checks: Extracts information from certificates and other evidence and checks whether documents correspond with the relevant supplier, country and commodity.
Risk and Due Diligence: Supports EUDR information gathering, risk assessment and risk mitigation, documenting the process in an inspection-ready compliance report.
TRACES Submission: Automatically generates EUDR Due Diligence Statements, submits them through a direct TRACES interface and retrieves the resulting reference number.
Packaging Compliance: The PPWR module collects packaging composition and supplier data, assesses requirements such as recyclability and automatically produces versioned EU Declarations of Conformity.
Closing Insights
Polygon One emerged from an EXIST-funded startup project connected with TH Köln. The idea grew partly from work at the European Commission, where the founders encountered the practical difficulties businesses face when implementing new regulation. Its development has received public support through EXIST and EU co-funding, giving the team resources to develop the platform while retaining ownership.
The platform has since broadened from EUDR compliance into PPWR, bringing two substantial EU regulatory workflows into one environment. This is relevant for companies whose compliance responsibilities span both sourcing and packaging: EUDR requires traceability to production plots and documented due diligence, while PPWR introduces requirements around packaging composition, recyclability and conformity documentation.
