Core Features

Kinset is built around the idea that every product should have a persistent digital identity backed by structured, verifiable data. Using GS1 Digital Link standards, the platform creates a single source of truth that connects product information, supplier evidence, sustainability data, and compliance records. Its features include:

  • Digital Product Passports (DPPs) – Creates audit-ready Digital Product Passports using GS1 Digital Link standards, supporting regulations including ESPR, EUDR, and PPWR, with future support for direct submission to the EU DPP Registry.

  • Connected Labels – Enables brands to use a single QR code for product storytelling, customer engagement, retail experiences, and future Digital Product Passport compliance without replacing existing labels.

  • Centralized Product Data Management – Consolidates information from ERP, PLM, PIM systems, spreadsheets, suppliers, and certification bodies into a secure, version-controlled product record.

  • Supply Chain Traceability – Tracks materials, suppliers, processing, transportation, certifications, and lifecycle information to improve transparency and support compliance requirements.

  • Lifecycle & Sustainability Data – Maintains structured information on materials, composition, certifications, care guidance, repairability, and end-of-life considerations to support circular product strategies.

  • Regulatory Data Delivery – Produces machine-readable outputs for regulators, retailers, certification bodies, customs authorities, and other stakeholders while maintaining a complete audit trail and version history.

Closing Insights

Kinset was founded by Katie O'Riordan, who previously established the sustainable fashion brand Theo + George. Her experience of trying to verify sustainability claims and navigate fragmented product information convinced her that brands needed a more reliable, data-driven approach. She partnered with serial technology entrepreneur Alan Giles to develop Kinset as a platform that helps consumer brands manage trusted product data while addressing both regulatory requirements and broader sustainability challenges.

Rather than viewing Digital Product Passports as an isolated compliance exercise, Kinset argues that they should become part of a broader digital product strategy. The company sees structured product data as an asset that can strengthen transparency, improve customer trust, streamline supply-chain collaboration, and support future business models such as resale and repair. In this view, compliance is one outcome of a well-managed product data foundation rather than its sole purpose.

Kinset highlights customers including FéRí, a sustainable knitwear brand; McNutt of Donegal, an Irish woollen mill and textile manufacturer; and Landa, a producer of premium flooring. These organizations use the platform to improve product transparency, implement Digital Product Passports, and prepare for evolving product sustainability requirements across different consumer goods sectors. The company has also expanded its ecosystem through collaborations with organizations such as GenuTrace, which provides scientific fibre-origin verification using DNA, isotope, and tracer technologies, enabling brands to combine verified provenance data with Digital Product Passports.

Pricing is available on request, and Kinset provides implementation support to help brands integrate existing enterprise data and prepare for evolving product transparency requirements.
