Core Features
IMPACT Environmental integrates environmental assessment directly into IMPACT’s precast BIM workflow, using project, company, or factory-level LCA resources and data from One Click LCA. Some of its main capabilities are:
Element and Project Carbon: Calculates CO₂ emissions for individual precast elements and complete projects using EN 15804 modules A1–A3.
Lifecycle Assessment: Uses project or company/factory-defined LCA resources to assess the environmental impact of precast projects.
One Click LCA Integration: Connects directly with One Click LCA and its database of more than 10,000 materials for expanded LCA calculations.
EPD Workflow: Transfers IMPACT data into One Click LCA, where users can complete full LCA calculations and produce Environmental Product Declarations.
Material Comparison: Lets designers compare material alternatives and identify options with lower carbon impacts during project development.
Material Optimization: From IMPACT 17.2, users can define material requirements and identify suitable concrete recipes, while more precise quantity calculations can help reduce concrete waste.
Closing Insights
IMPACT Environmental builds on a precast platform with long industry roots. Development of IMPACT began at Skanska in 1991, when its concrete factories needed a consistent digital information flow from design through production and construction. The software subsequently moved to StruSoft after the business was spun out through a management buyout in 2002. For IMPACT Environmental specifically, StruSoft highlights Swedish precast producer Heidelberg Materials Precast Abetong. By connecting IMPACT with One Click LCA, the company calculates the carbon footprint of specific precast elements using their actual reinforcement data. This provides more project-specific results and allows Abetong to discuss options for reducing a project’s carbon footprint with customers at an early stage.
Recent development has further embedded sustainability into the established precast workflow. IMPACT 17.2 introduced project-, company-, and factory-level environmental resource settings and enhanced material selection, while the One Click LCA connection gives users access to broader environmental datasets.
