Core Features
Real-Time LCA is built around quantity- and material-based LCAs that run directly from design and material data, rather than spend-based estimates. It pulls quantities from BIM models or Excel, links them to EPD data and applies EN15978 and national rules, so results reflect actual design choices and regulatory requirements. Within this methodology, several capabilities are central to how teams use the software:
Automated LCA from BIM and Exce - Automates LCA calculations from Revit, Rhino, Archicad and IFC models via Speckle connectors, or from Excel templates, reducing manual mapping and recalculation as designs change.
EPD-based material and construction library - Provides a large library of building-product EPDs and allows users to create and compare constructions (walls, ceilings, terrain assemblies) and add new materials based on formal EPDs or other environmental data.
AI-supported recommendations and forecasts - Uses AI to suggest alternative materials and constructions with lower emissions.
Regulation and certification alignment - Follows EN15978, configures life-cycle phases and assessment periods, and supports calculations that document compliance with Danish BR18 climate limits, voluntary sustainability classes and other national norms.
Dashboards, reporting and APIs - Offers visual reports and dashboards suitable for climate documentation and financial reporting, plus an open REST API and Power BI templates so construction LCA data can be reused in other reporting environments.
Collaboration and user community - Supports organisation- and project-level collaboration with unlimited users and projects under a square-metre-based subscription, and maintains a public community where practitioners share workflows.
Closing Insights
Real-Time LCA is developed by Gaiup ApS, founded in 2022 as a joint venture between engineering firm ABC Rådgivende Ingeniører and digital-solutions provider Capacit. The product reflects a move away from static, consultant-led LCAs toward analyses that run directly off BIM models and EPD data. Today it is compliant in five Nordic countries and supports more than 1,000 professionals, with customers such as CLT Denmark, Rockwool, and NREP using it to compare structural options, quantify embodied carbon and document project emissions.
In March 2025, NTI Group, a major Autodesk partner operating in over a dozen European countries and Brazil, acquired Real-Time LCA. Gaiup and Real-Time LCA continue as a distinct company within NTI, while benefiting from NTI’s wider customer base, Autodesk ecosystem and sustainability focus. This positions the platform to support more projects as regulations tighten, from Denmark’s BR18 climate requirements and associated EPD-based climate declarations to broader European moves toward whole-life-carbon and product-EPD regulation.
Against this backdrop, organisations seeking repeatable building LCAs can use Real-Time LCA’s EN15978-based engine, EPD library and dashboards to generate documentation aligned with national methodologies. Its m²-based pricing, unlimited users and projects, and integrations with Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, and other major platforms, make it a candidate for teams that want climate analysis to sit inside everyday design and procurement, rather than as a one-off study.
