The United Arab Emirates Government is the federal authority responsible for national affairs, operating as a federal presidential system. It is led by the Federal Supreme Council of the seven emirate rulers, which elects the President and Prime Minister. A Cabinet manages daily administration, while the partially-elected Federal National Council reviews legislation. This structure balances power between the federal government and the local governments of each emirate, which retain control over their own non-delegated, sovereign domains like oil and natural resources.
