Summary
The European Circular Bioeconomy Fund, or ECBF, is a specialist venture capital impact fund investing in growth-stage companies in the European bioeconomy and circular bioeconomy. Initiated by the European Union and supported by the European Investment Bank, the fund provides capital to companies developing bio-based materials, food and agri-tech solutions, industrial biotechnology, circular feedstocks, and other technologies that support the transition from a fossil-based to a bio-based economy. ECBF announced its first closing in 2020 and later reached around €300 million in commitments. It is managed through ECBF Management GmbH, based in Bonn, Germany.
