Summary
The Ozone Secretariat is the secretariat for the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. It supports Parties in implementing global controls on ozone-depleting substances and hydrofluorocarbons under the Kigali Amendment. Its work includes treaty meetings, reporting support, documentation, amendment processes and coordination of global ozone protection governance. The Montreal Protocol was signed in 1987 and entered into force in 1989, with Parties meeting annually to make implementation decisions.
