Transport for London (TfL)

Transport for London is the integrated transport authority responsible for operating and managing much of London's transport system and implementing the Mayor of London's transport strategy. Its responsibilities span the London Underground, buses, major roads and several other transport services, while it also regulates taxis and private hire vehicles in the capital. This regulatory role makes TfL particularly relevant to the introduction of autonomous ride-hailing services. Vehicles, operators and drivers providing private hire services in London must meet applicable licensing requirements. TfL's wider strategy also supports lower-emission mobility, road safety, active travel and greater use of public transport, with a target for 80 percent of London journeys to be made by walking, cycling or public transport by 2041.
