Sustainable Packaging Initiative for CosmEtics (SPICE)

The Sustainable Packaging Initiative for CosmEtics (SPICE) is an industry initiative launched in 2018 by L’Oréal and sustainability consultancy Quantis. It brings together cosmetics manufacturers, packaging suppliers, industry associations and other organizations to develop common approaches for improving packaging sustainability. SPICE provides shared methodologies, data, guidance and and SPICE Tool intended to harmonize environmental assessment across the cosmetics packaging value chain. Its work addresses challenges around lifecycle measurement, ecodesign, recyclability, reuse and environmental claims.
