Singapore Government

The Government of Singapore is the central authority of the Republic of Singapore, operating under a parliamentary representative democracy based on the nation’s written Constitution. Established upon Singapore’s independence on 9 August 1965, the government is structured around three branches: the Executive, led by the Prime Minister and Cabinet; the Legislature, represented by the Parliament of Singapore; and the Judiciary, headed by the Supreme Court. The government’s role is to formulate national policy, ensure economic stability, maintain social harmony, and advance the nation’s global competitiveness. It governs through a network of ministries and statutory boards, coordinated under the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). Singapore’s governance model is recognised for its efficiency, transparency, and long-term strategic planning, contributing to its success as a global financial and innovation hub.
