Playing for the Planet

Playing for the Planet is a global alliance that helps the video games industry reduce its environmental impact while using games to inspire climate and nature action. Launched in 2019 at the UN Secretary-General's Climate Action Summit, the initiative is facilitated by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and led by the games industry. It supports more than 50 member organizations through resources, research, carbon accounting tools, net-zero guidance, annual impact reporting, and collaborative initiatives such as the Green Game Jam, enabling game studios to decarbonize their operations and integrate environmental themes into their games.
