Natural Resources Wales (NRW)

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) is a Welsh Government–sponsored body established in 2013 to manage and regulate the country’s natural resources. It was formed through the merger of the Countryside Council for Wales, Environment Agency Wales, and Forestry Commission Wales, consolidating environmental responsibilities into a single organisation. NRW acts as the principal environmental regulator and adviser in Wales, overseeing areas such as waste, water, forestry, and marine activities. It combines regulatory enforcement with operational roles, including land management, environmental monitoring, and emergency response, working with government, industry, and local stakeholders to support sustainable resource use.
