Summary
National Cabinet is Australia’s principal intergovernmental forum, bringing together the Prime Minister, state Premiers and territory Chief Ministers to coordinate action on issues of national significance. It was established in March 2020, initially to coordinate the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and subsequently became the central forum for cooperation between the Commonwealth, states and territories. Its work spans areas including energy and climate, infrastructure, health, housing, planning and economic reform. Agreed outcomes are implemented by the relevant Commonwealth, state or territory governments.
