International Research Centre on Artificial Intelligence (IRCAI)

The International Research Centre on Artificial Intelligence (IRCAI) is a UNESCO Category 2 centre focused on the responsible and practical use of artificial intelligence for sustainable development. Based at the Jožef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana, Slovenia, IRCAI supports AI research, policy dialogue, tools and international cooperation aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Its work includes identifying and promoting AI projects with social and environmental impact, including applications in climate action, education, health, governance and sustainability. The centre operates under the auspices of UNESCO and was founded by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia.
