Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO)

The Independent Electricity System Operator coordinates Ontario’s electricity system and operates its wholesale electricity market. Its responsibilities include maintaining reliability, planning for future electricity needs, and supporting electricity procurement and conservation. The organization publishes supply and generation data relevant to assessing electric vehicle charging emissions. The current IESO combines the former system operator and Ontario Power Authority, which merged in January 2015.
