Summary
Hors-Studio is a French design and biomaterials research practice founded in 2016. The studio develops low-carbon materials made from industrial waste streams, including leather scraps, textile fibres, sawdust and oyster shells. Its flagship material, Leatherstone, transforms discarded leather into a durable composite suitable for interior surfaces, furniture and prototypes. Working from a low-tech workshop in Neuvy-le-Roi, the team combines craft methods with scientific collaboration to test natural binders and pursue material certification. Hors-Studio contributes to circular supply chains by diverting luxury-industry waste from landfill and offering alternatives to high-carbon materials used in design and architecture.
