Founded in 1989, Green Seal, Inc. is a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organization that develops environmental standards and certifies products, services, and organizations against those standards. Green Seal is best known for pioneering ecolabeling in the United States, helping purchasers identify products that meet science-based health, environmental, and performance criteria. Its work spans certification, standards development, and sustainability education, serving manufacturers, service providers, institutional purchasers, and public-sector organizations. Green Seal is also a co-founder of the Global Ecolabelling Network and its standards are referenced in numerous procurement and sustainability programs worldwide.
