Global Ecolabelling Network (GEN)

Founded in 1994, the Global Ecolabelling Network (GEN) is an international nonprofit membership organization that brings together leading Type I ecolabel programs from around the world. Rather than operating its own certification scheme, GEN serves as a coordinating body that promotes cooperation, information exchange, and best practices among ecolabel organizations. Its members collectively represent nearly 60 countries and territories and include programs such as EU Ecolabel and Green Seal. GEN focuses on strengthening the credibility of lifecycle-based environmental certification, supporting sustainable procurement, and helping governments, businesses, and consumers distinguish robust ecolabels from greenwashing.
