FuturEnergy Ireland

FuturEnergy Ireland is a renewable energy development company established in November 2021 as a joint venture between Irish forestry company Coillte and electricity utility ESB. The company combines Coillte's land portfolio and renewable energy development capabilities with ESB's electricity sector experience. FuturEnergy Ireland is focused primarily on developing onshore wind farms and supporting battery energy storage projects, with an ambition to develop more than 1 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. The company positions storage as an important complement to Ireland's expanding renewable electricity fleet by helping manage periods of variable wind generation. Its involvement with Form Energy also provides a route for evaluating longer-duration storage technologies capable of supporting renewable-heavy electricity systems.
