EcoTransIT World Initiative (EWI)

EcoTransIT World Initiative (EWI) is a collaborative organization dedicated to advancing global standards in transport-emissions accounting. Established in 2013, it oversees the scientific development, governance, and commercial operation of the EcoTransIT World software. The initiative brings together logistics and sustainability leaders such as DB Schenker, DHL, SNCF, and Kuehne + Nagel, alongside scientific partners Fraunhofer IML, INFRAS, and ifeu Institute. Headquartered in Hanover, Germany, EWI operates as a private, for-profit consortium managed by IVE mbH (Institut für Verkehr und Umwelt). Its mission is to promote transparent, standardized, and ISO-aligned methodologies for freight-emissions calculation and reporting. Through this structure, EWI combines scientific rigor with practical industry application, ensuring that EcoTransIT World remains the reference tool for GLEC- and ISO 14083-compliant transport carbon accounting worldwide.
