Carhartt

Carhartt is a privately held, family-owned American company that designs and manufactures durable workwear, footwear and accessories for workers in construction, manufacturing, agriculture and other skilled trades. Founded by Hamilton Carhartt in 1889, the company began by producing overalls for railroad workers in Detroit. Carhartt remains closely connected to vocational careers through workforce development partnerships and support for trade education. In 2026, it joined Google, Ford and BlackRock to establish the Alliance for America’s Skilled Trades, an initiative focused on expanding access to apprenticeships and technical training for occupations needed across infrastructure, energy, manufacturing and technology.
