##Overview The 'Resilient Societies' workshop, taking place on May 20-21, 2027, at the London School of Economics, will delve into the resilience of societies in the face of various shocks, including environmental, economic, and social crises. Keynote speakers Trevon Logan from Ohio State University and Edson Severnini from Boston College will lead discussions on the demographic, economic, and social consequences of these shocks. Participants will examine how historical societies adapted to challenges such as epidemics, natural disasters, and institutional disruptions, and how pre-existing inequalities influenced their responses. The workshop encourages interdisciplinary collaboration among historians, economists, and social scientists to foster a deeper understanding of resilience and adaptation strategies. Registration and meals will be provided for all participants, with limited funding available for those in need. Abstract submissions are due by November 23, 2026, with notifications of acceptance by December 7, 2026. For more details, visit the event website.
