Event Overview

The Pro Tour: Under Construction event, organized by the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA), will take place on October 2, 2026, from 1 PM to 5 PM in Amsterdam, NY. This tour will showcase a significant multi-phase Passive House development, which, upon completion, will encompass over 200,000 square feet and feature 168 Passive House-certified units, marking it as one of the largest Phius-certified projects to date.

Project Goals

Led by Black Mountain Architects, the project aims to meet the Phius Zero 2021 standard, achieve true Net Zero energy, and minimize embodied carbon while adhering to typical market-rate development budgets. The development team has meticulously focused on envelope thermal performance, air tightness, and component selection, contributing to occupant health, comfort, and building resiliency. The project has already achieved Phius Design Certification for all buildings.

Schedule

The event will kick off with an opening presentation from the project team, detailing the development's history, vision, and the building science behind its ambitious goals. Attendees will then break into small groups for a guided tour of the construction site, where they will hear from various experts involved in the project. The day will conclude with a reception and a Q&A session, providing an opportunity for networking and further discussion.
