Event Overview
This webinar, hosted by the World Meteorological Organization, will take place on October 6, 2026, from 16:00 to 17:30 CEST (10:00 to 11:30 EDT). It aims to explore the application of Eddy Covariance Flux measurements in understanding urban CO2 emissions.
Speaker
Sam Murphy, a PhD candidate in the Department of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science at Pennsylvania State University, will lead the session. Her research focuses on the sources and sinks of CO2 in urban environments, utilizing high-resolution measurements to evaluate both anthropogenic and ecosystem CO2 flux models.
Key Topics
The webinar will address the challenges of separating biological and anthropogenic CO2 flux signals in urban settings. Participants will gain insights into a method developed to distinguish these signals at an urban flux tower in Indianapolis, IN. Additionally, the session will present an assessment of a high-resolution CO2 emissions inventory at the neighborhood scale and discuss long-term trends in CO2 emissions over a five-year measurement period.
