Event Overview
On September 4, 2026, the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA) will host a Pro Tour of a groundbreaking all-electric high school and tech center in Burlington, Vermont. This new facility spans 250,000 square feet and features over 70 learning spaces designed to maximize natural light, including a modern library, a 750-seat auditorium, and versatile common areas.
The tour will kick off with an opening workshop discussing the project's history, community engagement, and financing strategies that facilitated the transition from the previous building, demolished in 2023. Participants will learn about the innovative energy systems, including a water-to-air heat pump, which is projected to save 47% on total energy consumption and eliminate over 5 million kBtu of natural gas usage.
After the workshop, attendees will break into small groups for a guided tour of the facility, led by an interdisciplinary team of experts. The event will conclude with a reception and Q&A session, providing an opportunity for networking and further discussion with the speakers. This Pro Tour aims to set a benchmark for sustainable school construction in New England and beyond, aligning with Burlington's Net Zero Energy goals.
