Overview

The IO and Hybrid Life Cycle Assessment workshop is a comprehensive 2.5-day course designed to equip participants with a deep understanding of both monetary and physical input-output (IO) models. It emphasizes the importance of the quality of IO tables and introduces the advanced BONSAI hybrid IO-database, which is pivotal for conducting Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies and economy-wide analyses.

Course Structure

Participants will explore the construction of IO models using national statistics, progressing to advanced topics such as supply-use tables, environmentally extended IO models, and trade linking. The course will also cover the integration of IO data with process-based LCA data through hybrid modeling techniques, allowing attendees to leverage the strengths of both approaches.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to extract and analyze information from national accounts and input-output models, understand the implications of different modeling approaches, and apply existing IO models for LCA and economy-wide analyses. The course includes 12 hours of lectures and 8 hours of practical exercises, culminating in the award of 1.5 ECTS points.

Registration and Fees

The registration fee is set at 3000 euros for professionals, 1500 euros for university staff, and 750 euros for students. A discount is available for additional participants from the same institution. The registration deadline is July 31, 2026.
