Overview

The Africa Energy Efficiency Policy Training Week 2026 is designed to empower policymakers with the knowledge and skills necessary to implement effective energy efficiency strategies. Since its inception in 2015, the IEA's training weeks have engaged over 3,500 policymakers from more than 130 countries, focusing on emerging economies.

Training Format

Participants will engage in five parallel courses covering key areas: Buildings, Appliances, Industry, Transport, and Indicators and Evaluation. Each course combines lectures, interactive discussions, and practical exercises, allowing attendees to learn from international best practices and share experiences with peers.

Schedule Highlights

The event will commence with a high-level plenary session featuring senior officials and energy efficiency specialists, setting the stage for discussions on challenges and opportunities in energy efficiency. Subsequent days will focus on track-specific training sessions, culminating in a final day dedicated to practical strategies for promoting energy efficiency and fostering regional collaboration.

Practical Information

All training sessions will be conducted in English, and while there is no attendance fee, participants are responsible for their travel and accommodation costs. Applications can be submitted through the IEA's online portal, and successful applicants will be notified via email. This training week represents a unique opportunity for professionals in the energy sector to enhance their capabilities and contribute to the global goal of doubling energy efficiency by 2030.
