UL Solutions (NYSE: ULS), a global authority in applied safety science, has joined forces with Fujitsu, one of Japan’s leading IT service providers, to support Japanese companies in complying with the country’s new climate and sustainability reporting standards.

This partnership merges UL Solutions’ ULTRUS software platform—a comprehensive tool for managing sustainability, regulatory, and supply chain challenges—with Fujitsu’s in-depth local market knowledge and customer base. At the center of this collaboration is UL 360, UL Solutions’ ESG data management software, which Fujitsu will use to help its clients meet evolving disclosure requirements.

Japan’s Sustainability Standards Board (SSBJ), aligned with the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), has introduced these new standards. While currently voluntary, they are expected to become mandatory by 2027, signaling a significant shift toward more rigorous ESG reporting expectations in line with global trends.

“Strong ESG reporting is essential for business resilience in Japan,” said Hidehiko Yamajo, UL Solutions’ Regional VP, in a press statement. “Our alliance with Fujitsu equips companies with the tools they need to simplify data management and generate real business value.”

Fujitsu’s Senior VP Hidenori Ito emphasized the role of digital innovation in ESG. “We’re integrating AI, blockchain, and our sustainability expertise to drive data-driven decision-making and corporate value.”

Beyond software, UL Solutions also provides services like environmental product declarations and zero-waste validations. Recognized by Verdantix in its Green Quadrant reports for 2023 and 2025, the ULTRUS platform has been praised for helping organizations navigate global ESG and compliance challenges effectively.

This strategic partnership marks a step forward in promoting transparency and sustainable business practices across Japan’s corporate landscape.
