Product-Level Carbon Accounting for Complex Manufacturing

Onye Dike
Updated by Onye Dike on September 24th, 2026
Telusio is a Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) platform designed primarily for manufacturers with complex products, bills of materials and incomplete supplier data. Developed in Germany, it combines automated data preparation, emissions-factor matching and product-level calculations to determine and analyze emissions across entire product portfolios. A distinguishing feature is TELUSIO Intelligence, which enriches incomplete master data before calculations are performed, addressing a common obstacle to scaling PCFs beyond individual products. Calculations follow the GHG Protocol and ISO 14067 and have been validated by GUTcert.

Core Features

Telusio combines software with data preparation and methodological support, allowing manufacturers to progress from individual PCF projects toward automated calculations across larger product portfolios. Its main features include:

  • Automated Product Carbon Footprints: Calculates PCFs across individual products, variants and wider product portfolios, with emissions broken down by components, materials and production steps.

  • AI-Based Data Preparation: TELUSIO Intelligence identifies inconsistencies and missing information in product master data and enriches records using product information, public sources and scientific data. Telusio says this can increase the proportion of relevant calculable input data from around 29% to 95% on average.

  • Emissions Hotspot Analysis: Automatically identifies emissions-intensive materials, components, suppliers and production stages, providing a basis for product redesign, procurement and reduction measures.

  • Primary & Supplier Data Management: Supplier-specific primary data can be imported, prioritized in calculations and documented by source, while other emissions information can be supplemented using databases and product data sheets.

  • Product & Variant Comparison: Maintains digital product files and allows companies to compare the emissions associated with different product configurations and variants.

  • PCF Reporting & Integration: Generates structured, exportable PCF reports containing emissions results, data sources and methodological information. Interfaces can connect Telusio with existing ERP and IT environments.

Closing Insights

Telusio was founded in Munich in 2023 as a spin-off from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich's Chair of Digital Services and Sustainability, with initial support from Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. Founder and managing director Dr. Johannes Weibl has a background in big data, giving the company a particularly data-oriented approach to PCF calculation. Its applications demonstrate the value of that specialization. Koenig & Bauer used Telusio to improve incomplete master data and calculate detailed footprints for complex printing systems, while Bausch + Ströbel obtained a PCF for a complex pharmaceutical packaging system within six weeks.

Telusio is also developing its AI capabilities with BayTOU funding from the Bavarian government, specifically to scale ISO-compliant PCF calculations despite incomplete supplier and master data. Its focus on manufacturing and complex product structures differentiates it from general corporate carbon-accounting platforms: the emphasis is on calculating emissions at component, product and product-portfolio level and making those results usable for customers, procurement and product development.
