Substantio's distinctive approach is to connect product compliance and sustainability through the same material and supply chain data, reducing the need to collect similar information separately for each regulatory or environmental requirement.

• BOM-Level Environmental Analysis: Substantio evaluates materials and components across complete bills of materials, allowing manufacturers to calculate environmental indicators and identify components responsible for significant environmental impacts.

• Automated Supplier Data Collection: The platform sends structured information requests to suppliers and associates responses with the relevant supplier, material or component. Its Compliance Hub can process requests covering more than 100,000 supplier parts at once and reuse collected information for subsequent requirements.

• LCA & Environmental Footprints: Environmental data can be evaluated according to ISO 14040/44 and EN 15804+A2. Substantio calculates impacts across multiple environmental indicators rather than limiting assessment to CO₂ equivalents.

• Scope 3 Supply-Chain Data: Manufacturers can request actual emissions information from suppliers or supplement unavailable primary data with certified datasets. Scope 3 information can then feed environmental reports, LCAs and ESG reporting.

• Product & Material Compliance: BOMs can be automatically screened against requirements including REACH, RoHS, TSCA and California Proposition 65, with compliance evidence and regulatory reports generated from the underlying product data.

• Digital Product Passports: Substantio can automatically generate and update DPPs from existing product and supply-chain information and provide them in different formats. DPPs can be delivered through the Substantio platform, customer systems or webshops.
