Core Features

MARCO Track & Trace uses a blockchain-agnostic, no-code/low-code architecture to connect traceability information across companies and existing enterprise systems. Its main capabilities include:

  • Digital Product Passports: Companies can create configurable DPPs containing provenance, sustainability, quality and compliance information and share them with customers, brands and consumers. MARCO maintains traceability from raw materials through finished products.

  • Automated Mass Balance: MARCO records inflows and outflows of certified materials and sustainability credits, maintains chain-of-custody records and prevents double spending. This supports claims where certified and conventional materials are physically mixed.

  • Product Carbon Footprints: The platform can calculate and trace carbon-footprint information alongside the materials and products to which it relates, connecting emissions information with product-level traceability.

  • Supplier and Customer Collaboration: Portals and shared records allow sustainability information and declarations to move between supply chain participants, while blockchain provides a verifiable history of the underlying transactions.

  • Regulatory Traceability: MARCO supports evidence and workflows for requirements including EUDR, ESPR/DPP and EPR. Its EUDR implementation can combine supplier and geolocation records with satellite analysis to verify deforestation risk and automate Due Diligence Statement management.

  • Enterprise and IoT Integration: MARCO can integrate with ERP, CRM and other API-based systems, as well as IoT devices and RFID/NFC technologies. Finboot says implementations can therefore add traceability without requiring bespoke replacement of existing enterprise systems.

Closing Insights

Finboot launched MARCO Track & Trace in 2018, initially targeting traceability challenges in carbon-intensive industries. Its customer deployments illustrate how the platform has evolved: Repsol uses Finboot technology to trace low-carbon fuels and circular chemical products, while SABIC has applied MARCO to batch-level traceability of circular feedstock for TRUCIRCLE products. Cepsa has used it to trace vegetable oil batches and calculate the renewable and circular content of chemical outputs.

More recent development has focused on adding AI to this traceability infrastructure. In May 2025, Finboot introduced MARCO AI, an embedded copilot intended to simplify configuration of traceability systems through natural-language instructions. This was followed in July by the DPP Map, which uses MARCO AI to visualize complex Digital Product Passport relationships. These additions indicate that Finboot is applying AI primarily to make large traceability datasets and configurations easier to work with, while blockchain remains the underlying mechanism for data integrity.

MARCO's subscription pricing determined by required functionality, user numbers and integrations. Implementation can take as little as four weeks and typically no more than 12, according to Finboot.
