Core Features
EnEffCo® is built on a measurement-based approach to energy and carbon management, drawing on ÖKOTEC’s consulting experience and proprietary KPI methodology. It integrates operational data from plants and processes to support continuous monitoring, analysis, and optimisation. Some of its core features include:
Energy & Emissions Monitoring: Tracks energy consumption and associated CO₂ emissions across systems and processes in real time
Integrated Data Management: Captures, structures, and processes large volumes of energy and operational data from multiple sources
ISO 50001 Support: Enables monitoring and verification aligned with ISO 50001 energy management requirements
Performance Benchmarking: Uses KPIs to compare system performance and identify efficiency improvement potential
Forecasting & Scenario Modelling: Supports energy forecasting, optimisation models, and evaluation of different operational scenarios
Flexible Energy Management: Includes load management and optimisation of energy procurement in response to market conditions
Closing Insights
EnEffCo® was developed by ÖKOTEC Energiemanagement, a German consultancy specialising in energy efficiency and sustainability, and was launched in 2013 in collaboration with partners including Fraunhofer IPK. The platform reflects ÖKOTEC’s experience from hundreds of industrial projects, embedding process-level engineering knowledge into a software environment for ongoing monitoring and optimisation.
The software is used across industrial and commercial sectors, with organisations such as BMW, Daimler, and Rockwool applying it to improve energy efficiency and manage emissions at site level. These use cases illustrate how EnEffCo® supports different carbon accounting needs, from corporate carbon footprints to process-specific emissions analysis.
Recent updates have added advanced visualisation tools (e.g. Sankey diagrams) and workflow features for managing efficiency measures and reporting. The platform also integrates forecasting, optimisation, and flexible energy management capabilities, reflecting increasing demand for tools that link emissions reduction with energy market dynamics.
