Core Features
ClimaCloud is modular, with ClimaCloud view providing the underlying building and energy management environment. Additional capabilities can extend the system into automated metering and predictive heating control.
Energy Consumption Monitoring: Tracks electricity, heating energy, water, process heat, steam and other media, with consumption analyses and graphical load profiles available through the web portal.
Multi-Building Management: Organizations can centrally manage individual properties and entire portfolios, including master data, energy consumption, costs and geographic distribution of sites.
Energy Performance Analysis: Properties can be classified by energy efficiency and prioritized according to their energy-saving potential, helping users determine where further investigation or improvement is warranted.
Automated Energy Reporting: ClimaCloud generates energy reports from building and consumption data and provides document management for supporting energy information.
Benchmarking & Alerts: Users can benchmark individual sites using energy performance indicators, while measured consumption and load profiles can be incorporated into fault management with individually defined thresholds.
Predictive Heating Control: ClimaCloud predict combines weather forecasts with heating-system data to control heating proactively. Supply and return temperatures and heating consumption are captured and visualized in the portal; ClimaCloud says heating-energy savings of up to 30% are possible.
Closing Insights
ClimaCloud was developed by RED KILOWATT Energiemanagement GmbH, with founders Dr. Evelin and Günter Schlotmann drawing on their experience in energy management. The web-based building information tool has been available since January 2019. Customer examples demonstrate different applications: VR BANK Dinklage-Steinfeld has used ClimaCloud since 2015 for weather-based control of its heating, air-conditioning and ventilation systems. In 2022, the bank reported annual electricity and gas savings of approximately 20% and a cumulative reduction of 250 tonnes of CO₂ since implementation. ClimaCloud also reports deployments with organizations including IHK Flensburg and Danish textile manufacturer Beirholm Væverier.
ClimaCloud is particularly oriented toward the German energy management and building market: its documentation references DIN ISO 50001, German consumption benchmarks and energy certificate processes. However, deployments such as Beirholm Væverier (cited above) indicate that the technology is not inherently restricted to Germany. Prospective users, including organizations outside Germany, are therefore invited to contact ClimaCloud to discuss system configuration, integrations and suitability for their building portfolios.
