Core Features
CELESTE approaches aviation emissions management as a connected operational workflow. API integrations bring flight information directly from scheduling systems into the platform, where it can be processed and allocated to the appropriate compliance requirements. Some of its main capabilities are:
Automated Compliance Segregation: Flight emissions are automatically categorized under applicable frameworks such as EU ETS, UK ETS, Swiss ETS and CORSIA, reducing the manual work required to determine which flights fall within each scheme.
Flight-System Integrations: CELESTE connects with aviation systems including Leon, Skylegs, and NAVBLUE, automatically bringing operational data into emissions calculations and reporting.
ReFuelEU Compliance: A dedicated dashboard monitors fuel uplift at Union airports and helps identify potential non-compliance before year-end reporting. The platform documents SAF use at flight level for ReFuelEU verification.
Physical SAF Management: Operators can record where SAF was purchased, quantities uplifted and associated flights, while maintaining information on fuel sources, certifications and inventory.
SAF Book & Claim: CELESTE allows operators to procure SAF certificates and claim the associated environmental attributes when physical SAF is unavailable at the point of use. Certificates and transactions are managed through the platform.
Carbon Market Access: Operators can access carbon credits through CELESTE, while a partnership with Vertis Environmental Finance provides daily indicative prices for EU, UK and Swiss allowances and CORSIA-eligible units within the platform.
Closing Insights
Azzera introduced CELESTE in March 2023. Its aviation specialization has since been reinforced through independent verification of its emissions calculations by Normec, covering obligations under EU ETS, UK ETS, Swiss ETS and CORSIA. In 2024, CELESTE was also selected for testing with three Canadian airlines through a Government of Canada Innovative Solutions Canada project managed by Transport Canada. Users Luxaviation Belgium which has integrated CELESTE with its flight-scheduling software.
Azzera also offers a Co-Pilot managed service in which its team handles emissions monitoring, reporting and verification workflows. For operators facing several overlapping aviation schemes, CELESTE’s main appeal is the consolidation of flight-level emissions, regulatory reporting, SAF management and mitigation options within an aviation-specific system.
